When there is a loss of hard dental tissue caused by cavities, fillings, also known as "white fillings" or tooth-colored fillings, are placed in the tooth. These are made directly in the office and completely reconstruct the tooth structure in both shape and color.
There are also ceramic fillings, which are made indirectly, i.e., in the dental laboratory, and then placed in the tooth using a permanent adhesive. Their advantages include durability, resistance to wear and tear, excellent mechanical properties, and high aesthetics. They are made from high-strength, metal-free ceramics, designed using computers, and produced by advanced CAD CAM technology.
They are also known as inlays, onlays, and overlays.
